Why? Because "there's nothing like riding the vintage streetcars through the woods with snow on the trees while singing Christmas carols."

What? Santa will be visiting with children throughout the barn.

Why? Because it's better to see Santa on the farm than in the mall. 

 

Launch of Holiday Light Show

What? Crafts for kids to make, face painting, hot chocolate, tree decorating, light show igniting. No cost to participate by those attending are asked to bring food item or toy to donate to Salvation Army.

When? Saturday December 13; 430pm

Why? Because it brings the neighborhood together. 

 

Children's Craft Activities

What? Decorate a gingerbread man and decorate a glass ball ornament.

Why? Because this is the last weekend of 2014 that this activity is offered. 

 

Elvis: Wonderful World of Christmas

What? "Milton's own Steve Michaels performs an evening of the King's greatest Christmas carols, songs of inspiration and classic hits."

Why? Because they'll "have a blue Christmas without you."

 

Miracle on Main Street

What? Toy Drive fundraiser to "promote the spirit of giving among all faiths." Those attending are asked to bring a donation of a new unwrapped toy that will go to either the Milton Salvation Army, Halton Women's Place, or young patients at the Hospital for Sick Children and McMaster Children's Hospital.

When? Monday December 15; 6am to 9am

Where? Outside of Troy's Diner (295 Main St E, Milton ON)

Why? Because "sickness and poverty do not discriminate - neither should the spirit of giving."

Why? Because free movies are awesome but supporting Free the Children is even better. 


Halloween Spooktakular

What? "Celebrate the season in Spooktacular style; wear your costume and receive a free hot drink (parents and grandparents included)!  The main attraction this season is the Haunted Barn! The Mountsberg Play Barn is transformed into a deliciously creepy place to play and explore!"

Harvest Festival

Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser

What? Community volunteers will hold a backyard pumpkin patch for the Milton District Hospital Foundation. Milton residents are invited to get their faces painted or purchase a pumpkin.

Where? 195 Bell St Milton, ON.

Why? Because it's Halloween time.

What? Stories are read and children are greeted by Cinderella and a pirate as they arrive. Several presentations will take place including Splash’N Boots

Ontario Public Library week is Oct 19-25. 


To kick off the celebration, Milton Centre for the Arts will be putting on a 'Celebrating Stories' festival on October 19th from 1pm to 5pm

  • Kids will be greeted by Cinderalla and a pirate! Wild. 
  • Readings and presentations (including 'Splash N Boots') in the Mattamy theatre from 330pm to 430pm. 
  • Face painting throughout the afternoon.

Tuesday October 21st: Beaty Branch

  • Polish film showcase
  • A 2011 film called 'Black Thursday' will be shown at 7pm. 

All week-long

  • 'Share Your Story With Us' (at Main Branch and Beaty Branch) encourages people to share personal and inspirational stories via videos, pictures, or other medium.
  • 'Bookfacing' photo contest (at Main Branch) gets people to pick a book that has a photo on the cover. Hold it up in front of your face. Take a photo. Win a contest. Maybe? 
  • 'Banned Book' will be displayed (at Main Branch). Celebrate our freedom to read! Word. 
  • 'Crossword Challenge' (at Main Branch and Beaty Branch). Fill out a crossword for a chance to win a Kobo touch.
